Cutaneous body image in psoriasis: The role of attachment style and alexithymia

Abstract The aim of this study was to estimate the contribution adult attachment style and alexithymia cutaneous body image in patients with psoriasis while controlling for confounding effects disease severity depressive symptoms. Participants were 107 consecutive (60% women) a diagnosis plaque-type psoriasis. Cutaneous dissatisfaction measured Body Image Scale (CBIS) Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI). Depressive symptoms, assessed Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Attachment Style Questionnaire (ASQ) Toronto Alexithymia (TAS-20), respectively. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that, independently from skin an insecure-avoidant higher levels reported greater dissatisfaction. Because cross-sectional design, causal relationship between avoidant attachment, cannot be determined. There no control group. Clinical assessment should include among psychological variables related
